The bowl produces a clear tone when struck on its cushion. Stronger strikes produced a louder, longer resonance, but I couldn’t get it to sing by circling the rim with the mallet.

The engraving is attractive, the cushion keeps it steady, and the lightweight wooden mallet feels sturdy enough to hold and strike. At the $40 price I evaluated, it felt closer to a $25 value to me.
